All the cloud applications you use on the Internet today are written in a specific computer language. What you see as a nice icon on the front end looks like a bunch of code on the back end. It’s interesting to see where computer languages started and how they have evolved over time. There are now a series of computer languages to choose from and billions lines of code.
On July 11 of this year, Father Dowd was named Auxiliary Bishop of Montreal. At just 40 years of age, he is the youngest Bishop in Canada. Last year, TP1 met with Dowd, a Montreal priest who is completely at ease with new technologies and the proud author of Canada’s first blog written by a religious. You can read more on the TP1 blog.
Told a friend I loved Kubrick, didn’t care so much for Bergman. Turns out Kubrick considered Ingmar Bergman “the greatest film-maker at work today”. Doh.

Last year, we decided it was time for a treat. So we created a 2011 poster calendar that was gifted to all the guests at our 5th anniversary party. A cross between print and interactive, the poster features a QR code in the centre, which cascades down into the months and days of the new year. This code also allows you to access new digital content that will be refreshed monthly.
For January, we’re offering an audio player programmed in HTML5 and JavaScript. Each song in the mix has its own original visual environment composed of three elements: a series of images created especially for the music, rhythm data that sets the pace of the animation, and algorithms that randomly pattern the images on the screen. What began as a simple idea soon evolved into a thrilling project involving music, design and technology.
